چکیده

For a given binary relation of finite trees, we consider the synthesis problem of deciding whether there is a deterministic top-down tree transducer that uniformizes the relation, and constructing such a transducer if it exists. A uniformization of a relation is a function that is contained in the relation and has the same domain as the relation. It is known that this problem is decidable if the relation is a deterministic top-down tree-automatic relation. We show that it becomes undecidable for general tree-automatic relations (specified by non-deterministic top-down tree automata). We also exhibit two cases for which the problem remains decidable. If we restrict the transducers to be path-preserving, which is a subclass of linear transducers, then the synthesis problem is decidable for general tree-automatic relations. If we consider relations that are finite unions of deterministic top-down tree-automatic relations, then the problem is decidable for synchronous transducers, which produce exactly one output symbol in each step (but can be non-linear). 1998 ACM Subject Classification F.4.3 Formal Languages

Synthesis of Deterministic Top-down Tree Transducers from Automatic Tree Relations

We consider the synthesis of deterministic tree transducers from automaton definable specifications, given as binary relations, over finite trees. We consider the case of specifications that are deterministic top-down tree automatic, meaning the specification is recognizable by a deterministic top-down tree automaton that reads the two given trees synchronously in parallel. In this setting we s...

Automatic QoS-aware Web Services Composition based on Set-Cover Problem

By definition, web-services composition works on developing merely optimum coordination among a number of available web-services to provide a new composed web-service intended to satisfy some users requirements for which a single web service is not (good) enough. In this article, the formulation of the automatic web-services composition is proposed as several set-cover problems and an approxima...

Extended Tree Transducers in Natural Language Processing

Tree transducers are finite-state devices computing relations on trees. Their study was initiated by Thatcher (1970) and Rounds (1970), who established the classical top-down tree transducers that process the input tree from the root towards the leaves. Shortly afterwards, Baker (1973) introduced the bottom-up tree transducers that process the input tree from the leaves towards the root in anal...

Decision Problems of Tree Transducers with Origin

A tree transducer with origin translates an input tree into a pair of output tree and origin info. The origin info maps each node in the output tree to the unique input node that created it. In this way, the implementation of the transducer becomes part of its semantics. We show that the landscape of decidable properties changes drastically when origin info is added. For instance, equivalence o...

Alternating Regular Tree Grammars in the Framework of Lattice-Valued Logic

In this paper, two different ways of introducing alternation for lattice-valued (referred to as {L}valued)  regular tree grammars and {L}valued top-down tree automata are compared. One is the way which defines the alternating regular tree grammar, i.e., alternation is governed by the non-terminals of the grammar and the other is the way which combines state with alternation. The first way is ta...
